The collective, formed in the early 1990s, became influential figures in the underground Memphis scene before achieving mainstream recognition with their 2000 album When the Smoke Clears. Their signature sound—characterized by eerie synthesizers, heavy percussion, and lo-fi aesthetics—helped define the aesthetic of trap and horrorcore rap.
