Double drop
A double drop lands the drops of two records at the same instant. Done right it is the biggest moment a DJ can manufacture; done wrong there is no way to hide it.
In practice
Both drops have to land on the same bar, at the same tempo, in compatible keys — and there is no partial version to retreat into.
Count both records in from a known phrase boundary rather than trusting the waveform, because a drop that is one bar out is more obvious than one that is eight bars out. Pick a pair where one record is sparse at the drop — two dense arrangements sum into noise even when everything is aligned. And swap the low end before the moment rather than during it: two kicks and two basslines is the one clash that gets worse, not better, at maximum volume.

Why it matters
It is the one move where two full arrangements playing at once is the point rather than the problem. Both records arrive at their heaviest bar together, and the combination is genuinely something neither contains — which is why it has become a signature move in drum and bass and bass music generally.
The tolerance is unforgiving. Both drops have to be phrase-aligned to the bar, tempo-locked, and harmonically able to coexist at their densest moment — and unlike a blend there is no gradual version to retreat into if the phrasing is out.
